Getting back into the daily routine (or, How the Sims 2 Has Eaten My Free Time)
I’m back into the daily grind, which means it’s time to do a little blogging. I’ve been on the go of late, taking two days off from work to drive across the wide open spaces of Texas to visit Mallory in Groves (for those familiar with Texas geography, it’s in the Beaumont / Port Arthur area). We drove back in time for the 4th and some hot dogs, fireworks, and relaxation — and some Sims 2.
My Sim (who I named Mike Mills) is doing pretty well — he’s up to Surgeon in his career path (medical). I’m saving up some money for a new house, a nice big one befitting a well-respected surgeon. Of course, becoming a surgeon takes time, which I’m giving it. Between Law and Order (SVU, CI, and regular) and the Sims 2, I’m officially getting nothing done. Including slower updates on Ye Olde Blog.
I also have a couple of new projects in the works — hopefully I’ll be making some progress on those first. But not until I get another promotion — whatever that may be. Lead surgeon, maybe? Head of medicine at a hospital? I want to cross the $1000/day income threshold.
Anyway, pictures from the visit to southeast Texas and 4th of July celebrations will be coming soon.

You know what I hate? The Romance aspiration. Those “screw everything in sight” Sims are impossible to keep happy…
I haven’t played in a while, though. I got tired of the original Sims pretty quickly too, even though I like the concept. It’s weird.
Actually, that makes sense. I’m having so much fun this game, but I can understand how a second time through wouldn’t be the same. Like, I’m a fortune aspiration because I want to have a big house with tons of cool crap. Once I’ve done that, I could see my incentive to play dropping. I don’t want to try the other aspirations, they just don’t seem as fun. I’m playing the game the way I want to the first time, and the other methods don’t seem as exciting.
I’m the same way about the original Sims, and the Sims online — fun, but old fast. But I’m still on the honeymoon, so I’m having a blast!
I think the Romance Aspiration sucks because, well, it’s a Romance Aspiration, not a Shag Everything in Sight Aspiration. It doesn’t make any sense that every single one of them is the same in wanting to screw like bunnies, as opposed, say, to wanting to marry someone who’s really romantic or to go out on expensive dates. Whatever.
The Sims craze goes in phases for me, as opposed to petering out entirely.
Pictures?
Becca is into rollercoaster tycoon… the original version (circa 1999).
Or at least she was until i found her the newest one (RCT3) for her, and the expansion for water parks. The problem is that the original suits her computer just fine–the new one on the other hand, only works on mine. And she loves it. I am beginning to see that generosity is not always a good thing (especially when you’re a selfish bastard like me).
BTW, why Mike Mills and not Mikie? Oh, and flickr pics better be forthcoming soon.
