Thanks Andrew for starting the subject !

To Bruce,

I felt like looking into the mirror while reading your comment. Myself, I am crowned PROCRASTINATE_QUEEN !! with my life as a blogger and my real life. It's not I don't have real interest into sharing what's running within my head. It's just on the very moment, I feel like doing else things too. I suppose I'm easily losing focus. I ended having many unpublished DRAFTS. Of course I know I should change this bad habit. Lately, I'm trying to take back the fame I used to have among my peers. ( I see them calling for me on forum and else place and it's breaking my heart. ) So I tried to post something, just anything everyday or so to create myself a habit. ( I created a special category for its sake: random chatting ) Hopefully, I'll win over my procrastination, slowly but surely.

Good luck to whoever needs it. Fighting !!

Its funny that I ran across this post. I too suffer from this problem. I built a fairly successful site a while back which was not really a blog but a content site. Well I kept putting off updating the site and after a while my traffic fell off and along with it the positions I had managed to develop in the search engines. Well, I've recentyl decided to try and pull the site back up so I will need to remember my lessons from before and make sure I keep the content fresh every day. I'll bookmark this post so I can use it for inspiration.

Some interesting ideas. Is it possible to get notified of future updates from your blog?

Cheers,

Came here through problogger. Good advice, but consider this. As timely as you try to be, someone will always beat you, because there are millions of bloggers out there. All you can do is be as timely as possible. Now to shamelessly plug my blog. Thanks for the advice!

Procrastination will kill the blograsination! As we are all human beings and we tend to go off on wrong paths at certain time, this procrasting will lead you to nothing. If you are serious about blogging, then get on it.

Well, there are people who would be interested in reading about the gym - how to use equipment, workout routines, tips on nutrition, reviews of different gyms.. you could have a successful blog writing about nothing but that.

But I know what you mean. "Twenty leg presses, 225 lbs, 3 sets. Standing thrusts, 5 lb dumbells, 40 reps, three sets". Not exactly inspiring ;-)

Kait: haha... I try, but like you say, you can't have great ideas every day. But I'll be trying! Will you settle for some mediocre days?

Blaine: Lucky... I envy you!

Tony: I'm impressed... your foo-web.com is a nice site. I agree -- if I wrote about going to the gym every day, people would get bored. As exciting as my workout routine is, I doubt many people care. Heck, my workouts even bore me -- and I'm doing the work!

Gone: Every second day is a good idea.. a nice schedule, but nothing to harried.

I like the way you put it... I'm going to try to remember that!

I post to the blog every second day (I tried doing it daily and it nearly killed me...). Every time I finish a post, I kid myself I'll write the next one on the non-post day so that I can whack it in early the following morning. For some strange reason that's never happened and I always find myself writing under pressure the morning the post is due.

Procrastination is an old friend who supplies the pressure I seem to need to be able to write. ;)

Well, I don't know if you can have GREAT ideas or posts every day, but I've done at least daily posts at my main site for years now, and recently added two more sites (one listed above) where I also do daily posts.

I think it's just a matter of blogging on a subject that interests you. For example, although I enjoy Scrabble, poker, going to the gymn and other things that make up my life, I couldn't write about any of those things every single day. I CAN write about Unix/Linux/Mac OS X, blogging tips, and self employment every single day because those subjects really interest me.

Funny, just before I checked this blog today, I thought to myself, "I hope Andrew starts to update daily!" I love sites that have something new every day. But if you need it to help you learn to procrastinate less, then I will take what I can get. Anyway, one can't force himself to have great ideas on a daily basis.
