Lunar Adventures: exploring a little bit of everything

Visuals that ruin an otherwise fine morning

I got up and left for work earlier than usual this morning — I was on the road at 7am. Apparently, 7am is prime jogger and biker time, since they were all over the place. That’s fine, they weren’t in traffic’s way.

But when I was on Greenville, a few blocks south of Mockingbird, I saw quite an image — one that will haunt me for quite a while, I will imagine. It was a man, I’d say in his late 50s or early 60s, jogging. Now, I hope when I’m in my 50s I can still walk, let alone go jogging. For that matter, I quite respect people with the mental drive to get up at 7am to go jogging at any age. But this particular man was wearing blue tight shorts that were about… a foot long, at best. And a pair of shoes. And that’s it. To make matters worse, he clearly forgot to shave his back this month. It was tough times.

I do want to reiterate that I’m cool with joggers. And I’m cool with people with hairy backs — you can’t choose where your hair grows. Where I get a bit weirded out is when you wear next to nothing in public and show off almost all of your body parts and those parts’ hair for rush hour traffic.

I think at some point people stop caring whether you may appear undignified to others if you really want to be comfortable while reaping the “fun”/rewards of jogging. Just getting sweaty and/or red-faced is enough to make me think twice…it’s why I always exercise in private.

What causes me mental distress is seeing jogging women who haven’t strapped their breasts down tightly. Ouch! (Or else they simply can’t strap them down, but still, ouch.)
