Lunar Adventures: exploring a little bit of everything

Sign #412 that you might be getting lazy…

Last night, while laying in bed briefly unable to sleep, I decided to start doing sit-ups. Well, I sort of decided to. I imagined myself doing sit-ups, and I told my stomach muscles to contract in such a way as to do sit-ups, but they weren’t too interested. But I started counting sit-ups, anyway. I got to 80 sit-ups without moving an inch.

The worst part? Right around 80 I started getting pretty tired, as if I were actually doing them. I can only imagine how tired I’d have been if I had actually moved.

I’m wondering if maybe I’ve stumbled upon a miracle fitness solution? Tonight, I’ll try some more imaginary situps. If I’m feeling ambitious, I might even jog a bit, maybe do some laps in a swimming pool. The sky’s the limit! Unless I fall asleep.

The power of the mind has been proven in numerous situations to aid in physical health. I’ve read about certain cases where once a person is convinced they don’t have a certain disease, they actually see improvement.

As for imagining sit-ups and seeing any improvement, I doubt you’d see any actual muscle gain, but if you’re breathing correctly in a meditative state you might actually firm your core.

    Crazy stuff….

I could go for a firmer core — it’d help some back pain I sometimes get after ball. I’ll keep it up and report back!
