Lunar Adventures: exploring a little bit of everything

Blog topics and forgetfulness

I’ve always had a problem with being forgetful. For as long as I can remember (last Thursday or so), I forget key dates, events, deadlines, ideas, appointments, names, etc., unless I have them written down. One would thus logically conclude that I always carry around pen and paper, to write everything down, so as not to forget things. One would, of course, be wrong. I have gone through stretches where I remember to always have a notepad and pen available, 1920’s-reporter-style, but I am currently in between those stretches.

Thus I still manage to not write everything down, including important things, thinking that, “Oh, I’ll CERTAINLY remember THAT!”

This is essentially a long-winded way of saying that I had several topics I wanted to talk about, but can’t remember what any of them are. They may or may not come back to me; if you see a flurry of posts, they did. If you don’t see said flurry, they didn’t. Vegas is currently predicting an over/under of 2 topics remembered.

But! Here’s where you come in! If you have a topic you’d like to see me cover, because you really care what I think about the subject or because you think I’m a moron and want to laugh at me as I try to hold an opinion, either leave a comment here or send me an email. Try to make your email subject lines remarkable so that I don’t get bored and so that I don’t confuse your email with spam, of which I get plenty.

I remember reading that you barely play video games these days. I’ve become way more casual over the last few years as well, but was wondering if there were any particular reasons behind you pulling back? Do you still find yourself playing NES/SNES (since I remember those being your favorites back when you and AV worked together on UOSHP/square.net)? Also, any thoughts on the current state of the video game industry?

Wow. That sounds like a SERIES, rather than a single blog entry. I would be interested in your answers on that as well, especially the question of why you’ve pulled back, other than just being busy. I wonder sometimes about my brother’s INCREDIBLE commitment to gaming and if that will continue into his post-teen years. I sometimes think he will continue to play, if he becomes a professional ballplayer, because he’ll be highly paid–so he can afford the consoles–and working fewer hours than blue- or white-collar nine-to-fivers.

After I had posted my comment, I realized how broad the topic was, so yeah, it probably won’t fit into one post, but if you want to give it a go, I’ll do the same on my website. We could probably get a few good posts out of it.

Topic #1: My mother reported to me that there was an article in DMN about how HS football coaches are paid at least twice what teachers are paid. Also, that HP’s coach is paid $200K/year. Necessary?

Topic #2: Would you rather: (1) punch Shaq in the nose w/ no ramifications; or (2) have a quiet, intimate dinner w/ Mike Mills?

Zach: I like the question — I’ll totally hit it! Very soon! FOr real!

Mal: Yeah, well, I’ll try to keep it short. It all varies from person to person… my circumstances were pretty unique. And I still game — just not much.

Q-funk: Oooh, I like those too. I’ll try hit them, also.

I’ll keep my word as well — I’ll start working on my post tomorrow.
