Selling before reporting, so true.

I don't even think its about reporting anymore.
You will be happy to know, that I pay very little attention to celebrity "news". It's boring, they're boring.

It's true. The media covers what people care about. And it drives me nuts that people care. But what can you do.

I think the media is more about selling news than reporting news. Something is "newsworthy" simply if it will capture the attention of a significant number of people, and celebrities with controversial opinions are a sure bet for that. If news service X doesn't report stuff like this, there will always be another news service Y that will, just because there's an economic niche there that is begging to be taken advantage of.
