I just bought a MacBook Pro less than a week ago and since it's my first Mac I am learning a lot. I've used a Mac before but never owned one, so I'm figuring out what software to use for what functions, etc.

I have not had any of the mentioned problems. Heat is only an issue (to me at least) when it is plugged in, but isn't that all laptops?

I went into the Apple store and played with the MacBook to make sure it wasn't what I wanted, and I was right. Most people think the glossy screen is alright, I hated it. Too much glare, way too much glare. I can't imagine working with it outside, which is where I code most of the time.

The keyboard was neat and wasn't hard to type on and the magnetic latch for the screen was pretty sweet. I like the MacBook but didn't want the screen or the integrated video card. Plus, by the time you upgrade the RAM (you have to buy two 512 sticks), and get a bigger harddrive you are looking at a price comparable to the MBP (if you are going for the black MB). Instead, I paid a little extra and got a bigger screen and a faster processor.

"Andy McNuggets" ?

I don't think McDonald's would sue you...

Since you worked so hard to get that 12 lbs off, make sure you don't throw it all away on an ice cream/Mavs lost binge.

I'd say either use "Tasty Frozen Treats" or "Mind Dump" ... I'm leaning towards TFT.

The MacBook Pro is nice, but I'm avoiding them because of all the problems I keep reading about (mostly at TUAW). The one thing I remember from this Mac guy I used to know, was that you always avoid first gen Apple hardware. I'd say take a chance if it's really bothering you, because you can always get it repaired or yell at AppleCare and exchange it for a new one.

Blueberry snow cones are crack.

I'd like to amend my comment--there is one thing that's been bothering me about the MB. Sometimes it gets all weird and crashes when I wake it from sleep. It's strange, I'm going to have to look into it... I don't know if it's just a consequence of being Rev. A hardware or what. Just today when I booted it up after the crash it loaded the desktop but something in the startup sequence got fubared; Spotlight kept crashing and trying to reload itself (hence the "ahh my finder is going crazy").

Another reboot fixed it, thankfully.

I still love my MB, the Office 2004/Rosetta thing I just complained to you about aside (and that's not really the MB's fault anyway.) Seeing mine has convinced my sister to get one too.

I wonder how often you'll get to use the tasty frozen treats tag.
